I’ve been there, trying to work from home with distractions left and right. So I started exploring co-working spaces around Rio, and honestly? Game changer.
From the moment I stepped into my first spot, I knew I was in the right place. Being right in the heart of the city means no long commutes. Just a quick walk or a short ride, and I’m ready to plug in and get focused.
These spaces aren’t just functional. They’ve got the right energy. The kind that keeps you motivated, and occasionally sparks a great conversation with someone at the next table.
So, if you’re a digital nomad, freelancer, or remote worker like me, here are some of the top coworking spaces in Rio I’ve tried and loved.
Trust me, work doesn’t feel like work when you’re in the right environment.

1. Selina Copacabana (Socialtel Copacabana)
📍 Rua Almirante Gonçalves, 5, Copacabana
Look, I’ll be straight with you. This place is all about location. You’re literally steps from Copacabana Beach with great ocean views. The rooftop bar is fantastic for evening networking, and I loved having the shared kitchen when I wanted to save money on meals.
But here’s the thing about the co-working space: it’s hit or miss. For R$740 /month, some days I’d snag a decent spot with good lighting, other days I’d end up in a cramped corner with inconsistent WiFi. The workspace experience can vary depending on occupancy and timing, so it’s worth checking current conditions and pricing directly with the property.
It’s perfect if you’re okay potentially trading consistent workspace quality for that unbeatable beach location and hostel energy. Just manage your expectations and maybe have a backup plan for important video calls.
Note: Another branch of Selina is located at R. Visc. de Maranguape, 9 – Centro/Lapa.
Pricing and specific amenity details may vary – contact the property directly for current rates and coworking space availability.
2. WeWork Carioca
📍 Av. Almirante Barroso, 81, Centro
When I needed to focus, this was my go-to spot. Six floors of workspace, high-speed internet, proper setups, and meeting rooms that handled client calls well.
The monthly hot-desk fee was around $180, which is on the pricier side for Rio, but it delivered on reliability.
Coffee was always available, and the showers came in handy more than once. If you’re the type who prioritizes a professional work environment over extras, this is one of the most consistent options I found in Rio.
Note: WeWork has 3 locations in Rio
- Downtown: Almirante Barroso 81
- Downtown: Bossa Nova Mall (next to Santos Dumont Airport)
- Barra da Tijuca: Helios Seelinger 155
3. Spaces Centro
📍 Cinelândia, Centro
The location near all those historic theaters and cafés made lunch breaks feel like mini cultural tours. The interior design hits that sweet spot between professional and inspiring. I actually looked forward to working there. The networking events were well-curated, and I made some solid professional connections.
It’s more polished than the Selina spots but without the corporate sterility of WeWork. I found it perfect for days when I wanted to feel productive but not overly formal. The meeting rooms are thoughtfully designed, which impressed clients during video calls.
Private office space starts at BRL 1,129 per person per month, while coworking memberships begin at just BRL 385 per month. If you prefer a consistent spot, a dedicated desk is available from BRL 999 per month. For client meetings or team sessions, meeting rooms can be booked from BRL 135 per hour.
Note: There is also another branch of Spaces in Rio, offering a different neighborhood feel and setup.
4. Regus – Bolsa de Valores
📍 Praça XV de Novembro, 20, Centro
Regus is consistently ranked among the top coworking options in Rio. In fact, a roundup by StarterStory listed Bolsa de Valores as one of the city’s best spaces for professionals who value reliability and prestige.
This is for when you need to impress clients or have back-to-back serious meetings. It’s corporate, it’s quiet, and it works exactly as advertised. No surprises, no community vibes, just a professional workspace in Rio’s financial district.
I used it mainly for important client presentations when I needed that extra professional credibility. The service is reliable, but you’ll pay for that predictability.
Amenities include full accessibility, underground parking, elevators, a terrace with outdoor seating, vending machines, and round-the-clock surveillance for extra peace of mind.
Regus has 8 coworking locations across Rio, all offering professional setups for different needs.
5. CEU – Casa de Empreendedores Urbanos
📍 R. Progresso, 67 – Santa Teresa
Honestly, this became one of my favorite spots. Tucked away in bohemian Santa Teresa, it’s got this creative energy that’s hard to find elsewhere. The transparent swimming pool is as refreshing as it sounds, perfect for those Rio heat waves.
According to Woba’s listing of CEU in Santa Teresa, the space includes coworking areas, meeting rooms, lounges, and even unique amenities like a transparent pool, making it as practical as it is inspiring.
What really sets CEU apart is the community focus. I connected with local entrepreneurs and got insights into Rio’s startup scene that I never would have found at the bigger chains. The pricing is incredibly fair, especially considering the unique amenities.
If you’re entrepreneurial-minded and want to tap into Rio’s creative community while having access to a truly unique workspace (seriously, where else can you take a pool break between meetings?), this is your spot.
6. Emwork Coworking
📍 Avenida Franklin Roosevelt, 39 (Sala 1506), Centro
I spent a few days working at Emwork, and it really surprised me. The space feels modern and professional, with plenty of natural light and views over Centro. Everything runs smoothly here. You get fast internet, comfy chairs, and staff who actually pay attention (a rare find in some co-working spots).
What I liked most is the flexibility. You can grab a hot desk, settle into a fixed spot, or even rent a private office if you need privacy. They also have meeting rooms and event space that don’t feel overly corporate, which is a plus. And yes, the little bar inside makes meetings a lot more relaxed than you’d expect.
If you’re working downtown and want something polished but still welcoming, Emwork is a solid choice.

Conclusion
After months of workspace-hopping, here’s my honest advice: Rio’s coworking scene is lively, varied, and sometimes a bit unpredictable, much like the city itself. Match your choice to your work style and priorities.
Whatever you choose, remember you’re working in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Sometimes the best “coworking space” is a café in Ipanema with your laptop and listening to Bossa nova.
